About the Owner
Garret Scavotto grew up and spent the first 21 years of his life in Falls Village, CT. It was during the summers in high school when he first began landscaping for a local nursery and learned the ins and outs of tree and shrub installation and maintenance. After college and working as a full-time landscaper for a couple of years, he decided it was time for a change and moved to Arlington, VA.
While in Virginia, he worked for the Arlington County Parks and Recreation Department as a Team Leader for the Landscaping Department. In this role, he managed and maintained 30 parks and gardens throughout the northern part of the county. His work included revitalizing, installing, and maintaining gardens, trees, shrubs, and hardscapes.
One of his largest contributions in Arlington was maintaining the Bon Air Memorial Rose Garden. It was here where Garret refined his skills as a gardener and helped to ensure the bloom of thousands of roses each year. Through this role, Garret also developed a relationship with the Arlington Rose Foundation, with whom he led pruning demonstrations in the spring for local gardeners looking to rejuvenate their rose gardens.
After six years with the county, Garret and his wife, who is originally from Sharon, CT, decided it was time to return home. Garret decided to begin his own venture and bring his love for garden and tree care back to the northwest corner of Connecticut through Blue Spade Landscaping.
